You might not know but Thirty Days has come quite a way since its initial month as Thirty Days of Flats. We’re on edition four and we’ve even got a shiny new website:
Text with 1 note

So it’s the final day and post for Summer Heroes which makes me kind of sad as I’ve really enjoyed doing this challenge and I’ve still got plenty more I’d like to do but I’m sure they’ll come up at another point.
My final item is the denim jacket. Before you judge me for wearing A&F, I’d like to point out that this jacket is about a decade old. It used to be a mid-blue but ten years of wearing and washing have bleached and shrunk it to the perfect size. It has a rip above one of the pockets and it’s fraying all over the place but that just makes me love it all the more.
In the great British summer weather it’s the perfect cover up and it fits effortlessly with virtually any outfit but my favourite pairing is definitely with maxi dresses for the contrast, as seen here.
Worn with: Striped maxi dress, New Look; Gold sandals, Topshop; Yellow satchel, Asos.
So, that’s it for Summer Heroes but I’ll be back next week with a whole new thirty day challenge and hopefully by then, a whole new website too so keep checking back.
Woohoo!

DAY TWENTY NINE: Sequin sleeve tee, Mint Velvet
The Monday after a festival is never a happy one. Despite an early night, I woke up groggy and indecisive in regards to what to wear this morning but aware that I still had to look presentable. The grey skies outside did nothing to help with my decision. Would it stay grey and rainy or would it clear to become a beautiful sunny day?ARGH.
For days like this, I have a selection of smarter tees that I can throw on, coupled with some of my nicer jeans for a more pulled together look, such as this one from Mint Velvet. I lost track of the number of people who told me they liked it today, so I take it as a good sign; clearly I didn’t look like the corpse that I so clearly felt like.
Since we’re almost at the end of Summer Heroes, Holly the sausage dog wanted to make one final appearance for her loyal fans, so here she is doing a little wave for you all.
Worn with: Skinny jeans, COH; Cream and navy pumps, Office; Grey leather jacket, Doma; Yellow satchel, Asos.

DAY TWENTY EIGHT: Yellow leather satchel, Asos
I was going to save this bag for a future 30 Days but I figured that considering just how much wear I’ve had out of it recently, it should really feature in Summer Heroes. At the beginning of the season, I was on the hunt for the ultimate satchel; what my boyfriend has dubbed my ‘irrational fashion’ side was deliberating between the Mulberry Alexa and Proenza Schuler’s PS1 satchel but realistically, I think my bank manager would’ve ripped me a new one had I bought either.
So, I started hunting around. I looked at the Cambridge satchel company but I wan’ted something squishier. Then, I looked at all of the high street powerhouses - Topshop, Miss Selfridge, New Look - and nothing caught my fancy. I even considered braving Portobello to hunt down something more unique. And then, lo and behold, one day a magical satchel appeared in the cupboard from Asos and I promptly fell in love with the utterly summery lemon yellow version.
The fact that it has two separate straps makes it even better; it can hang long and low across the body for festivals (as is today’s case) or days when I have a million other bags to carry, then short and handbag like on my shoulder for marching around town. Made of the softest leather, it’s breaking down beautifully and I’m seriously tempted to buy it in another colour for winter. I’ve added a printed silk scarf to the side of it for a slightly more feminine feel et voila, the ultimate summer bag!
Worn with: grey denim shorts, Zara; Grey marl and fishnet vest, Sparkle & Fade; White plimsolls, Primark; Oversize hoodie, Marc by Marc Jacobs.

DAY TWENTY SEVEN: Band tee, Blitz Kids
As the girlfriend of a muso, I spend a high proportion of my evenings at gigs for random bands and in the summer, many weekends are spent at festivals. This weekend, I’m at Truck festival in Oxford. However, this time it’s for pleasure, rather than work which makes a welcome change.
One of the eponymous looks at festivals is usually a band tee. Since everyone under the sun seems to own the traditional AC/DC, Ramones or Motorhead tee, I like to change it up by wearing tees from smaller bands, such as the awesome Blitz Kids. Once again, this is where my boyfriend comes in handy as he seems to have a never ending supply of these. This one is actually my own though, gifted to me by the lovely Blitz boys after we did some promo shots for them a while back. They’re an awesome bands so please check them out.
Worn with: Grey denim shorts, Zara; Floral headband, IOW festival vendor; White plimsolls, Primark. Yellow satchel, Asos.

DAY TWENTY SIX: Gold ‘Hero’ leather sandals, Topshop
Getting a sense of deja vu? You might recognise these from Day 25 of 30 Days of Flats. Back then, they were a new purchase and I was a bit dubious due to the incredibly flat nature of the soles that would probably do my knees no favours.
Two months on, these have barely left my feet. Seriously, I wear them virtually every day and with every outfit, as you’ll probably have noticed from the ‘worn with’ section at the bottom of every post. I felt it only fair to revisit them as they truly are the most aptly named sandals, ever. I wish I’d bought two pairs as these are starting to show signs of wear and tear but considering how quickly they sold out, I should just be grateful for my one pair.
Worn with: Skinny jeans, COH; White vest, Topshop; Checked shirt, New Look; Grey leather bag, Jaeger.

DAY TWENTY FIVE: Breton stripe tee, Day Birger et Mikkelson
Sorry for the delay in posting, it’s been a ridiculously busy few days. Let’s get back to it though with a monster (literally) update. So, Thursday was our big sale to raise money for charity and as part of that, the entire fashion team wore stripes as a sale uniform. I love stripes. In fact, it’s been suggested that I should do 30 Days of Stripes. God knows that my wardrobe at home is bursting with all different forms - hats, shoes, tops, skirts, dresses - you name it, I’ve got it with stripes on.
I picked up this particular top at a sample sale a few weeks ago but with its 3/4 sleeve, it been too warm to wear it so I was actually quite glad when the temperature dropped a little just in time for the appointed day so that I could fully embrace my nautical side. If you’d like to see the actual top in the flesh so to speak, rather than just in awesome illustrated form above, click through the read more section below.
Worn with: Rope necklace, Asos; Grey long denim shorts, Topshop; Blue leather espadrilles, Penelope Chilvers; Blue sunglasses, Ray-Ban; Yellow satchel, Asos.

My sincerest apologies for going AWOL over the last few days. I’ve been busy with work things, preparing for another festival and then the festival itself. Unfortunately, my phone battery ran out on the way to the festival, so I wasn’t able to even post a ‘back in a bit’ post.
Rest assured, normal services will resume this evening!

DAY TWENTY FOUR: Smudgy heart print top, Topshop
Imagine my surprise when I turned up to work today to find that one of my colleagues Paula (Fashion director of S Mag) and I were fashion twins today in this lovely printed tank from Topshop. Another one of our colleagues then confessed that she’d also bought the dress version so it’s a veritable fashion hat trick for this print! I’m heading straight from a day of scrambling around under the rails in the fashion cupboard to a swanky dinner tonight so I needed something quasi-smart that would work for both activities.
I bought this top at the weekend without trying it on and discovered that it is exceedingly low-cut and somewhat sheer so I’ve combatted the dreaded too-much-bra-on-display with a little bandeau bra type top from American Apparel, while Paula went for a layered look with hers.
Worn with: Grey bra-top, American Apparel; Dark skinny jeans, COH; Gold sandals, Topshop; Cream leather jacket, Doma; Grey leather bag, Jaeger; Gold ant necklace, Links of London; Sunglasses, Ray-Ban.
