DAY ONE

DAY ONE: Black strapless blouson playsuit, Reiss

I figured that I should start this 30 Days with one of the more mystifying pieces from the fashion world, the playsuit. A straw poll amongst my friends has garnered mixed reviews with some calling it a saviour and left others scratching their heads and staring at what they describe as an adult babygro. Personally, I love the ease of playsuits. Okay, maybe not when you’re busting for the loo and suddenly trying to get one off becomes something akin to a Crystal Maze challenge but for everyday purposes, they rock my world.

I bought this strapless ‘Nikki’ playsuit from Reiss a few months ago but it’s still available in both colours - black HERE and nude HERE. I obviously opted for black. This is one of my best cost-per-wear purchases by far this season; in this kind of weather, it comes out frequently. I wore it to the pub by itself on Saturday night and then to the office on Monday with a jacket (which admittedly got worn for about five minutes because of the heat). In hindsight, I probably should’ve worn a necklace considering it’s neckline but it was so hot and sticky, it probably would’ve just irritated me so maybe that was a good decision. What I particularly love about this style is the loose top half, which is perfect for hiding a little bit of post-lunch bloat but is off-set by the tailored bottom half with it’s shiny gold buttons to give it a smarter feel. And who doesn’t love shiny gold buttons?

Worn with: Gold ‘hero’ sandals, Topshop; Yellow satchel, Asos; Snakeskin print jacket, Prada; Dark tortoiseshell sunglasses, Carrera.
