DAY FOUR

DAY FOUR: Spotty culottes, Miss Selfridge

Aged six, I made a vow that I would never, ever on pain on death wear culottes again after my mother made me wear a particularly hideous pair against my will. Well, I guess I should be six feet under by now because I’ve kind of fallen in love with this pair and culottes in general. I bought these two months ago on a whim while I was on the hunt for a pair of khaki peg legs and at the rate I’m going, I’ll need another pair, which is why I’m considering this clover print pair, also Miss Selfridge. The whole shorts-as-skirt combo has proven useful, as it means I can throw myself around the fashion cupboard without flashing my pants to the rest of the team or the startled interns.

This pair in particular were also my attempt at introducing a little bit of colour into my wardrobe which mainly consists of black, grey and more black. While they have a black base, the colour spots have a far more summery feel to them and the elasticated waist means I can pull them up high for a more short-orientated look or wear them lower to make them look more skirt-like.

So tell me, would you wear a pair of culottes?

Worn with: Grey and pink lace vest, Topshop; Gold sandals, Topshop; Yellow satchel, Asos; Yellow studded bracelet, New Look; Purple ‘Glide’ aviators, Ray-Ban.
